Heart' singers work to stay true to Tony Bennett

If the timeless songs of Tony Bennett have taught the actors of I Left My Heart: The Music of Tony Bennett one thing, it's to always be themselves.

Way to go, Tony.

"People respect how he stuck to who he was," said Michael Sample, one of the crooners. "He said that if you sing the good songs, you can never go wrong."

And that's exactly what they do. Directed by Robert Kolby Harper, the production features more than 35 pop standards, including The Best Is Yet to Come, Stranger in Paradise and I Left My Heart in San Francisco.

Sample, along with actors Arthur Marks and Richard Manera, puts a contemporary twist on the classics. Decked in urban-hip ensembles donated by Neiman Marcus, the stars, with their sparkling white smiles, belt out numbers with personality and soul.

We bet you'll be humming along, too.
